Product Description
Common use
Persantine broadens coronary vessels (mostly arterioles) and considerably facilitates blood flow. It also increases content of oxygen in venous blood of coronary sinus and its absorption by myocardium. Persantine prevents platelets from clotting which may lead to decreasing of blood flow in the ischemic area. Persantine is used after heart valve replacement, thrombosis, tromboembolia, myocardial infraction, chronic heart failure and other conditions.
Dosage and direction
Take the drug only as prescribed because dosage and schedule may vary on your condition and other factors.
Precautions
Persantine is usually prescribed with aspirin to facilitate blood flow but it may result in increase of bleeding. To avoid risk do not take more aspirin than prescribed. Not to upset your stomach take the medication with milk, avoid natural tea or coffee as they may decrease effect of Persantine.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, acute myocardial infraction, arterial hypotension, severe arterial hypertension, severe arrhythmia, ulcer of stomach and duodenum, liver failure and others. Cautiously in breastfeeding women and children younger 12 y.o.
Possible side effect
Side effects are rare. You may experience abdominal distress, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache. Contact your doctor immediately if there are unusual bleeding, bruising, yellow eyes or skin.
Drug interaction
Persantine may interact with anticoagulants, aspirin, valproic acid, antibiotics of the penicillin group, cephalosporins, tetracyclines, nicotinic acid.
Missed dose
Never take a double dose of this medication. If it is almost time of the next dose just skip the missed portion and continue to take the medicine according to the schedule.
Overdose
Symptoms of a overdose are dizziness, feeling of warmth, flushing, low blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, restlessness, sweating, weakness. If you experience this call your doctor immediately.
Storage
Tablets and capsules of Persantine should be stored at room temperature between 15-30 C (59-86 F).
